The Lake Court House Foundation Inc., was established in 1978 to save the historic Lake County Court House in downtown Crown Point, Ind., from demolition and to preserve the building for future generations to enjoy. The Lake Court House is a private, not-for-profit facility supported solely through private donations and its business operations. The multi-purpose historic Lake Court House is home to the Lake Court House Shops on the lower level, an eclectic mix of retail shops in a one-of-a-kind setting. A variety of professional service businesses call the second and third floor home. Facilities at the historic Lake Court House are available to rent for weddings, banquets, corporate events, fundraisers and private parties and include the grand Maki Ballroom, historic court room, the Court House steps and the Court House lawn.
